How to stand out in the crowded and competitive online personal training space & why its important
Hey guys, it’s Chris here from Tribefit. I want to do a short video – I’m here in Venice Beach in California, United States. You can probably see behind me a couple of really cool images, pictures, artworks, on the wall. And I guess I wanted to do a video, today, about how this…being in Venice, and how…previously I was in Cuba for a couple of days. Prior to that, West Hollywood and, just doing a couple of business things here and then had a holiday trip into Cuba. And I wanted to do a video about why that’s relevant to building your fitness business or, in fact, building any online, successful business.
The key to being successful online is being unique. You need to be unique to stand out – there’s far too many options out there. And places like Cuba, Venice, West Hollywood – they’ve all got their own vibes, their own unique cultures, their own unique aspects. They’re all very different, and are going to attract a different type of people. If you want to be successful online, you need to find your own vibe. These sorts of places are not always everybody’s cup of tea, and that’s what you need. People who like this vibe, like this sort of stuff, will search, will find out about it, will chase it down and go there. And go out of their way to get there. As an online coach, instead of being a generalist, people will try and find you, and search you out, and look for your help specifically for what they’re looking for and the vibe that they’re needing, or the results that they’re wanting, or the expert that they’re looking for. And like I said, it’s not everybody’s cup of tea, and that’s the key to being successful online. If you’re a generalist, there’s too much competition. Think about all the areas in the world that people could go to. But places like Venice, places like West Hollywood, Cuba etcetera – they attract certain types of people. What you need to do – there’s a saying in business: “If you try to be everything to everyone, you’ll be nothing to nobody.” And what that means is, if you’re just a generalist and you have nothing unique, you’ll be nothing to nobody. You only want to stand out and be unique to a small segment of people, and then in that way you will have very, very little competition, and people will search for you – search you out and want you to be their online fitness coach.
So keep that in mind – think about what makes you unique in the market and, if you’re a generalist and you’re trying to be too general, you’ll have too much competition and, as a result, people will price-shop you. Everything will be price-sensitive, it’ll be very competitive and you’ll be unsuccessful as a result. So anyway, keep that in mind and, hope you enjoyed this video. In a couple of days’ time, I’ve got a couple of things over here, business-wise, to set up and sort out, but in a couple of days’ time heading back to Australia. I had a fantastic time in the US, had a fantastic time in Cuba, and like I said, the key to standing out, being a successful online fitness coach is being unique, realizing your unique aspects, your unique strengths, your unique vibe, and making that sing out to the world. And then people will search for you, will hunt you down and then find you. So keep that in mind, and hopefully that helps. Speak to you soon, bye for now.
