Hey guys, it's Chris Lynton here from Tribefit.co. I wanted to shoot a very short video.
Welcome to 2017. I hope you all had a safe and merry Christmas and start to the New Year.
I wanted to shoot this really short video. Obviously it's the New Year and everyone's thinking about what they're going to do for the New Year and they're thinking about New Year's resolutions, goals, focuses etc etc and how you want to build and structure your life for 2017 for the better.
Something that is top of mind for me is basically a long steady mentor of mine who was pretty much my first mentor that helped me with sales and marketing and helped me learn loads and loads about sales and marketing, his name was Geoff Jowitt. He had a very common saying that had come from a number of other mentors he had. In essence, in life there are three different types of people. I guess what I want to do today is for you to ask yourself what type of person are you going to be in 2017?
There are three types of people. This is a saying they used to always say, and it's really top of mind and it's stayed with me really well.
The first type of person is the type of person who makes shit happen.
The second type of person is the type of person who watches shit happen.
The third type of person is the type of person who wakes up one day, having no idea what is going on or what has happened and goes "What the hell just happened?"
So as you can see, three different types of people. The type of person who makes shit happen, the type of person that watches shit happen and the third type of person that wakes up, years and years down the path, and goes "What the bloody hell just happened?"
I wanted to shoot this really short video, like I said, about the three different types of people.
What type of person are you going to be in 2017?
Right now is the perfect time to be reflecting on what you did in 2016 – your goals, your successes and your failures – and really looking back at what you were able to achieve, what you learnt and then look forward. There's no use being in the car and always looking in the rear vision mirror, looking behind you, because you can't change what happened in the past. What you can do is you can take control and change what's happening ahead of you in the future, looking forward.
So three different types of people. I want you to spend the next two minutes or so and really truly ask yourself what type of person are you going to be in 2017? Are you going to be the type of person that makes shit happen? Are you going to be the type of person who literally sits there, wants to make things happen but watches everyone else make it happen and then wonders, why not me? Why isn't it working for me? Or worst case scenario, are you going to be the type of person that is literally blind to what's going on around them and wakes up years from now and then asks themselves, "What the bloody hell just happened?"
Most people, I would suggest, in 2017 at this time of the year are pretty excited about the year ahead. They've set themselves goals. Hopefully you're dreaming big. Hopefully you're setting yourself some massive, scary goals for yourself. And hopefully when you ask yourself that question, you go through those three points, you are the first type of person, the type of person that's going to make shit happen in 2017, the type of person that's going to take control of their life, take control of everything they're doing and really take control of their future and build their life the way that they want rather than letting other people control the way that they live and the structure and the life that they have.
Anyway, that's it from me today. Hopefully you're all having a great start to the year and, like I said, ask yourself that question and if you're truly going to be a person that's going to make shit happen this year, you're truly going to be a person that's going to take control of their life, their future, this year then make sure that you get cracking straight away. Get into it and set it as a long term goal, not just something to do for the next two, three or four days. Set the habits, set the structures to be moving forward and make sure they become habits for life.
